Kalamazoo ‘Hidden Figures’ are leading young women in computer science

A computer science teacher helps two young women write a programKALAMAZOO, MI — The recent Hollywood movie “Hidden Figures” highlights the history of how a team of brilliant African-American women helped NASA launch the program’s first successful space missions through their knowledge in science, math and technology in the early 1960s. Today, Hidden Figures is an inspiring story for girls who want to be successful in science.

When it comes to aspirations in technology, young women at the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center are showing again that women can be among the nation’s brightest in computer programming.
